Jason Barrett celebrated the third anniversary of Barrett Sports Media last week, and we have an annual podcast chat to talk about the state of Sports Radio. After three years of doing anything, you have entrenched yourself into the landscape well enough to speak reflectively, so I asked him about the trials and tribulations of shifting from programming radio to partnering with radio.
He blogs, podcasts, works with sports radio brands across America, and I have admired his work and always appreciate the perspective he brings to the podcast when he comes on as the NFL Season gets underway.
If you have time to listen to this podcast - make time for his as well as he has many of the thought leaders from radio industry on his show which comes out on a regular basis. Jason is also an avid wrestling fan; we did not get a chance to cover this on the podcast, but back in the 2000's he did a wrestling show that had more downloads than anything else at the station he was working at.
In this episode, we talk about the changes with Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football, how Tony Romo did in his first year and how to deal with Kaepernick situation, when it unwittingly becomes a story.
By the way, if you like what you hear and want to work with Jason, he is really good at working with your teams short term in advance of ratings or when the staff are all together. OR even better - send your staff to the Barrett Sports Radio Summit in Los Angeles in February. (e-mail Jason for more)
